Welcome to Padang Bai and Geko Dive BaliGeko Dive Bali is proud to have been officially selected as a Participating Dive Operator (PDO) for the Indonesian World Underwater Photography Contest - IWUPC - 2013 Why Geko Dive Bali
What has a gecko got to do with scuba diving? Everybody knows that geckos are not good swimmers. Neither are they divers. Indeed geckos are often seen climbing up walls and ceilings in a dry environment. (Be happy when you find them in your bungalow: mosquitoes are their favourite dish!) The name was coined following a fun dive at the Balinese Eastern coast. Some dive sites here are sometimes hit by raging currents. One sometimes ends up holding on to rocks and creeping along walls, like geckos, in order not to get flushed away by the drift (We also have relaxed, easy, dive sites for training and gazing at/photographing macro critters;-). Helped by some inspiring drinks, the name GEKO DIVE was born while sitting together and enjoying a slice of life after such a pounding dive adventure.
First Scuba Dive Centre in Padang BaiGeko Dive Bali first opened in June 1997. At 15 years of age, it is the oldest dive centre in Padang Bai. Geko Dive Bali is a PADI Resort since 1998 and became a PADI 5 Star Resort many years ago. This Bali dive centre has also recently become a TecRec Technical Dive Centre! We are fortunate to have one of Bali's best dive staff! The Geko Dive Team speaks Balinese, English, French, German, Spanish, Indonesian and Japanese. There may be a bit of British, Australian and Thai here and there too. All of our dive guides are excellent divers, PADI Divemaster certified and fully insured, with years of working experience on Bali's numerous dive sites. For the Geko Dive Team, scuba diving remains a passion, first and foremost.
Fun Scuba Diving in Bali, IndonesiaDiving with Geko Dive Bali has always been fun and serene. To make sure that it stays this way, we have no intention on getting any bigger than we already are. Diving in large herds at dive factories is not a divestyle that the Geko Dive Team enjoys. Scuba diving should be a personal experience! We therefore keep small dive groups (4 max and often less), with similarly experienced divers together. We also keep the same guests with the same PADI Divemaster for the duration of their dive holiday whenever possible. That way divers and diveguides get to know each other and work together towards the divers' satisfaction. We believe all our guests deserve the ultimate diving adventure with utmost enjoyment and safety. The Geko Dive Team is always happy to hear what you would like to see underwater. Be it a macro critter, like frogfish, siagiani squat lobster, ghost pipefish, orangutan crab, tiger shrimp, Spanish dancer or nudibranches, or a large animal, such as manta rays, reef sharks, turtles, mola-mola oceanic sunfish or pelagic fish, we will do everything we can to find it for you in order for you admire it or take photographs. We can't work miracles but we certainly will try. Geko Dive Supports the Padang Bai Community
We also adhere to a philosophy of creating employment opportunities in the local community. This is obvious in the level of service that you will receive when you are here. You will never have to carry a tank, set or clean your equipment while you are diving with us, if that is what you wish. This high level of service still comes at highly competitive rates. Low Season Is The Best Season to Dive in Bali
Bali is reaching low season! This means more wet days and less people in the water. This is the perfect time for divers who like small groups, close interaction with fish, be they small or large, and even private tuition or guiding. Macro critters, such as frogfish and pygmy seahorses, ornate and robust ghost pipefish, nudibranches and crustaceans, are thriving in Bali this time of year. Larger animals, like manta rays, sharks and turtles, can be approached more easily as there are less divers in the water. Plus, we still enjoy sunshine daily. Don't spoil it by spreading the word too much, but now is the best time to dive in Bali
