Nusa Penida: Northern Drift Dive Sites
Type:
Big island about 20 Km South-East of Bali, the north coastal coral reef is about 7 Km long, slopes, canyons and walls.
Access:
25 minutes by speed boat from Padang Bai to the many different dive sites on the north coast of Nusa Penida.
Coral Reef State:
The best variety and number of hard and soft corals, most spots totally undamaged.The best coral reefs in Bali!
Fih Species:
Best variety of tropical reef fish in Bali, possible to see most of south east Asia's marine species in only one dive, very often seeing big pelagic species such as giant tuna, oceanic sun fish and sharks (thresher shark).
Current:
Mild, moderate, strong and very strong depending on the moon. Most dives are done drifting, but some dive sites may have tricky vertical or pulsating currents.
Visibility:
20m to 40m, some of the best viz in Bali! Stable even in rainy season.
Note:
Dive sites in Northern Nusa Penida include Toyapakeh, SD, PED, Sental and Buyug. The canyon between Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan has unpredictable currents but is possible to dive on ocasions.
