PADI TecRec Tec 40 Diver
Course Description
The Tec 40 course is the first step towards becoming a technical diver. During this course, you learn how to use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 metres. You also learn how to use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50% oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression. The equipment you use when doing the course with Geko Dive is a full technical rig, composed of double cylinders, deco cylinder, backplate, harness and wing.
The Tec 40 course is credited towards the next steps in technical dive education: the TecRec Tec 45 and TecRec Tec 50 courses.
Duration:
- 3 days - 1 swimming pool dive, 3 ocean dives.
Prerequisites:
- Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
- Be a PADI Enriched Air Diver
- Be a PADI Deep Diver
- Be a PADI Rescue Diver by the end of the course
- Have a minimum of 30 logged dives, of which at least 10 dives were made with enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 metres
- Have a medical form signed by your physician
Technical diving often means pushing the limits of recreational diving. Physical demands put on your body are much higher than with recreational diving. This is the reason why prospective technical divers and students are required to download the medical statement and get it signed by a qualified doctor. In order to avoid bad surprises and to minimise risks, the Geko Dive Team recommends that this be filled by your personal doctor before leaving home.
