Scuba diving Padang Bai from Kuta

There is no scuba diving in Kuta as its exposure to the Indian Ocean and its sandy beaches equate to low visibility and few corals. This does not mean you cannot scuba dive while staying in Kuta & Seminyak. Dive centres in Kuta or Seminyak bring their guests to locations far away for diving. Padang Bai is located about 50Km / 35 miles away from Kuta. The commute from Kuta to Padang Bai takes around one hour. This makes Padang Bai one of the closest quality places to dive from Seminyak

This village is an easy base to dive from while sleeping at a resort in Kuta. You can easily leave your hotel around 7am, do 2 dives at local Padang Bai scuba sites and be back to your Kuta hotel by 3pm. You can choose to use your own transport or have the Geko Dive Team organise it for you (at a supplement). Beginner dive sites close to Kuta or Seminyak

If you are a dive beginner staying in Kuta, the Geko Dive Team recommends that you join us for a halfday PADI Discover Scuba Diving program with one or two dives at our local Padang Bai diving sites. The other option is to take a 3 days PADI Open Water Course during which we strongly advise you to stay in Padang Bai in order to cut down on transport costs.

For Open Water certified divers, the Geko Dive Team also recommends diving Padang Bai dive sites from Kuta with a local operator. At these sites, divers can encounter whitetip reef sharks, turtles, pelagic, schools of tropical fish, nice corals and great macro.
